Where would you like to start?

New to stock photography?

Stock agencies let customers license photographs for use in their projects. You earn a share when your work is licensed. Start by learning how to plan a subject and prepare your images; acceptance and sales are not guaranteed.

Using a phone? Adobe accepts mobile photographs that meet its photo requirements.

The idea behind StockAlpha

Make more of
the photos you take.

A familiar kitchen, a local business or an everyday activity can be the subject of your next photograph. Stock licensing offers a way for that work to be used in other people’s projects, with the possibility of earning from the same image more than once.

StockAlpha helps with the decisions before a shoot: what to photograph, which compositions to try and what to prepare. The briefs bring agency guidance into a practical plan. Your knowledge of the subject, your light and your point of view shape the finished work.

Creating, editing and submitting a portfolio takes work. Licensing income varies and sales aren’t guaranteed. How stock royalties work ↗

What is StockAlpha?

StockAlpha helps you decide what to photograph for stock licensing, whether you’re starting out or already contributing. Discover sought-after subjects near a place, or turn published agency research into practical briefs with shot lists, equipment suggestions, keyword ideas and links to the original sources.

What can I use today?

Type your town or a trip at the top of the page to see real nearby subjects ranked by interest, with the best light times. Browse briefs, or answer three short steps for ideas matched to your equipment, time, settings and participants. Save a personal plan in your browser and download it. Everything is free without an account. You can back up and import your shortlist between browsers; automatic account sync is not available.

Does StockAlpha measure real demand, or promise income?

It surfaces researched signals, not sales or income. StockAlpha ranks subjects by how sought-after a place is, from public interest data such as Wikipedia views, against how crowded a subject already is, from existing library counts. Each signal is labelled as a measurement or a proxy, with its source. It does not measure actual sales or licensing, and it never predicts or promises what you will earn.

How much does it cost?

Trying the discovery tool, reading the guides and using the shoot planner are free. Paid product pricing will be explained before purchase. We are not taking payments or pre-orders.

What is the waitlist for?
